Final 8 and Class 10

Tonight the class is working as a team to build something in secondlife. First we found a sandbox and all teleported to sandbox cordova.

We decided on what to build.The floor was the first part of the structure. It helped us to claim our land so no one else could build.

I learned that ctrl shift is used to drag the axis


Then we started to build the walls and someone added furniture
I made a wall and a pole for the first time


I also learned how to make something exist from the inventory, you just drag it down!!!I made a glass carport which was awesome!





People from outside of the class kept interfering
The house started to dissapear because the space was full.



We built an ingloo insteead... I need much more practice

class 9 second life exploration

This is the airport at the NOAA Virtual Island in Sciland .

You can look at the atmosphere pressure and other things like the ocean temp.

I was a crab thats all.

You can view different glaciers.

This is a map of all the places you can visit and interanct with in the land.

I was spinning in a hurricane.

You can view the airplane that someone is flying now around the hurricane.

This was a really cool map of different airports around the US and it shows a 3d image of the weather.

I explored The Hospital at the Imperial College of London.

There are patients that you can check up on.

There are different wards for each diognosstic that can be performed.

Class 8 guest speaker

WE had a guest speaker who was awesome. I learned about the program Power Bullet. I created animations with jpegs and gifs. I made an animation of a rectangle, my name, and superman.(refer to midterm 1)

Midterm 10: House pic

I used Vector graphics in Microsoft Word. I added shadows and texture. I'm not the greatest artist but its a person with a cat outside the house with trees and weather. I used rectangles, ovals, triangles, and lines.

MIdterm 9: Course diagram

I used vector graphics in microsoft word. First view;toolbars;drawing
I drew a rectangle (right click to format auto shape). I used auto shape to draw the different shapes and structures.
To constrain lines I used shift and the arrow keys. To finely move a line i used ctrl and the arrow keys.
I took a copy of the .doc file and saved it as a jpeg

Midterm 8: touch up

I used Gimp Shop to touch up the image of me. I zoomed into my image and I mostly used dodge and smudge. Yay I love it!!!

Midterm 7: SEan Patrick FLannery

I chose a pic of an actor. I took the round logo off the Grid Institute's website. It was resized to fit over the eyes.
A text box was added in a new layer.

Midterm 6: Layers and animation

The penguin picture was placed in a separate layer behind the text. My animated name was created using the GIMPShop Text Circle script. I wrote my name and copied pasted it into separate layers. There are 3 different frames rotated at different angles. The file is an animated gif with 500ms between the frames.

I changed the file format of the original monster.jpeg
Changing the picture to progressive and interlaced give lets you have a general idea of the picture before it is completely loaded. The progressive jpg comes into focus.The interlaced png loads bits by lines.

Midterm 4: Avitar Card

This is my Avatar ImmersiveEducationAshley Taurus from Second Life. I took a screenshot of myself in second life. Then in Gimp Shop I cropped the image and added the text.

This picture was originally in the tiff format. I changed it to the Ping, Jpeg, and Gif formats. In the Jpeg image I changed the compression to 80, so it still has quality but is a smaller size. The Gif image looks pixelated due to the limited color palet of 256 colors. The ping image has a larger file but has a very wide range of colors (24 bit) so it has the best quality overall.

Midterm 2: Samus the cat

I used gimp shop I used the rectangular selection tool and filled in the background white. Then the text tool which went into a text layer and aligned the text in the center of the box.

Midterm 1: remove red eye

I removed the red eye using Gimp Shop. I used the
eyedropper tool to choose the eyeball color. Then I zoomed in and used the paintbrush tool to cover the red of the eye while changing the brush size and transparency depending on the area and space.
I added white to it because I felt it made the baby look more human and less touched up.

This is the second online class. We got more intensive with second life. I learned how to use the mini map. I also learned about 3-d audio and how it is attenuated and spacial.
